Working a lot with Nedstat/comScore Sitestat Analytics package and not being able to use their IE Toolbar I found it necessary to have a tool that could display me the countername of Sitestat instantly without having to dig through the sourcecode of everypage. The Countername is one of the essential parts of Sitestat implementations. You use it a lot in either Siteview or the Report Builder.
I knew Greasemonkey could lend me a helping hand with this issue and I also knew it would be fairly easy to port it to Chrome as well. So I decided to build a tool that displays the countername using Greasemonkey.
Install the script ==> Click HERE
For those of you that don’t know Greasemonkey, its a really cool extension for Mozilla Firefox, it allows you to add Javascript to be used on pages to alter the content that is available, or add layers on top. To use Greasemonkey scripts you will have to install the Add-On for Firefox, so please install the Greasemonkey extension.
To give you an idea of how it looks when in action, check out the following screenshot, which shows you the countername for the sitestat.com website:
Installing the Sitestat Countername detector script
- Install the greasemonkey add-on (Firefox only)
- Click on the install link (Works with Chrome ! )
- Click on the install button when the greasemonkey popup appears
- That’s it, you’re done! head on to a site you know has Sitestat running and look at the Counternames appearing!
Version
- Version 1.1 (29-11-2010) Detection within script and noscript instead of full page (fixed detection of clickin to report as countername)
- Version 1.0 (26-11-2010)
Detection of Sitestat Versions
- Currently detects default countername setups using countrycode.sitestat.com/?s=Countername
