Reviews and ratings for your business with Google Maps Mobile
Some nice news for Google Maps Mobile yesterday! the Official Google Mobile blog is announcing that you are now able to write reviews and add ratings to your business using your mobile phone.
Imagine you just had diner in a restaurant, you search for the place in Google and it will present you with the map and a review function. Rate your business while you are there!
Now I’m thinking, combine this with the latest update to the Google Local Business Center, where a business owner receives notifications when any changes occur. Let’s hope that this could as well be a notification when he receives a review or a rating and voila, the business owner could respond immediately. It would make it a perfect reputation management tool!
This feature is now available for non-Iphone users in the US. They are working on an Iphone version (isn’t that just a ‘regular’ browser?) and on international coverage as well.

You ask “isn’t that just a ‘regular’ browser?”, but I speak from experience when I say you often have to do a lot of tweaking to make a UI thats designed for a big screen usable on a small screen.
There were two key bits that caught my eye in your post: 1) about reviews and suchlike on the move, and 2) about alerting the business owner when a review is left.
Well, we’ve been doing the latter for around 6 months at Brownbook.net (http://www.brownbook.net, so its nice to know our ideas are in common with others (although in truth its such an obvious feature for any business owner).
And on the first point - mobile - our mobile platform is out with our new release NEXT week and just like our www platform you can review businesses, and the business owner gets alerted the moment a review is posted.
I’d be happy to let you preview the mobile platform and have a play so long as you don’t publish it yet, at least until we launch it next week. Let me know if you’d like that.
