Fix incorrect marker option is back!

Word has that Google put back the ‘fix incorrect marker location’. Google Maps Guide Sirene posted this in the Google groups.

So it’s not necessary anymore to use the trick I used for you US users to change the interface/engine by switching back to a European one, where we are still awaiting the updates.

Screen shot below shows the button back in action in the ‘new’ / US interface of the Local Business Center

Thanks Map Guides! And oh yeah

Thanks for letting us know what things make the LBC a better place!

I was looking for this feature, several of our markers were just dumped in what was the town centre. There are still problems though, both with the map markers and GL in general.

After spending 2 hours + going through the 150 + listings, changing the map markers and adding some media I noticed that our custom categories were missing.

The previous day I had downloaded our listings file, some addresses had to be changed on GL so the listing would be accepted thus making my original bulk upload file void. I used GL’s new file as the basis to make the next round of changes, not noticing that it was missing the custom categories I had uploaded previously. After making all the map changes I uploaded a new bulk listing file this time including the custom categories. After doing this our map markers reverted back to where they were before I manually changed them all.

So now every time I download our GL file I have to remember to add the custom categories before uploading any changes and I have to sacrifice correct map markers in favour of bulk uploads.

hey loup! thanks for dropping by and leaving a comment, much appreciated!

thanks for giving this insight in your problem.
Have you ever tried not using the whole bulk upload file again, but just the ones you need to change?
What made you decide to download the bulk listing after uploading to re-upload? I would prefer to have an offline duplicate and use that for reuploading, saves some of the trouble perhaps?

    Let me know!

    Hey
We’re listed on a variety of sites and I needed to make sure our details were standardised.
Since GL was my initial starting point and the details approved by a majority of the managers concerned I download that file to use it as the basis of entries for other sites and to have as a kind of master contact list.

I haven’t tried uploading just the information needed. I was under the assumption that if I was updating entries via the bulk upload addition feature and was just changing the URLs or numbers I needed to have all other information for the 10 entries there.

    hi loup,

you are right about uploading the whole record, as in, each listing.
    if you want to add 20 records, to 50 already existing, you don’t need to upload all 70, again. you can use a different bulk upload file, which uses Addition instead of complete;

    Hey
I knew about the addition, its just the last few cases I had to upload information that applied to all our listings.
Hopefully one day soon most of the user issues will be resolved, or we find creative ways around it.
    Thanks for the info though.
